sewing

My spare time this week has been spent making a couple of these, I bought the fabrice a couple of years ago and have made totes with it for presents on occasion. This one is for me and is currently holding sock yarn. I love the spots, and hope to buy more of this type of fabric this weekend. I am going to a local sewing and knitting fair with a friend.
This is a picture of the finished skirt, it looks better on. It is cut on the bias .

After seeing my bag on homespun living
I thought I would show it's now in good use.
Thanks Deb, it's very handy for carrying small projects around.

Library Finds

I found these books at the library last week and have been enjoying the wealth of ideas in them ever since especially cushions and throws.
Haven't quite mastered the art of taking a photo without the flash showing up on the book yet though.

Coffee Cups..

I have recently tried out the tutorial for a coffee cup cozy found on
house on hill road, and although it needs enlarging slightly for this size cup
I love the finished article and it has been admired in the coffee shop.
I'm please with the vintage button too !

Talking of coffee cups, I am following(not joining in yet) Green week, and saw the same Ikea coffee cup being used as a cup on a friend to knit with , this was my use for the same cups.

Countryside

Today is another sunny day, so after I baked these Ginger Cookies
and this Lemon meringue pie,

I walked across the fields behind our house.
This is the castle, is in our town. I feel very fortunate to live surrounded by this.
Tonight is Brownie meeting night and we are finishing off Craft badge by making Mexican Gods Eyes. I will post pictures soon.

Unfinished...

I enjoy cross stitching from time to time, and this project worked on 32 count brown sugar linen has been around for a few years now. I tend to get it out around Christmas time and work a bit more and the it sits back in it's basket for a while longer. This year I'm pleased to say I have almost finished the goose girl and started on the geese and chickens about her feet. The pattern is Butternut road and is called feathers and friends.

Day Off

Hanging out washingThen getting it in again because it started to rain
Our cat, Maisie, had to come in too.
I have baked, washed, and cleaned up the house, then sat down with a cup of tea and one of these.

Then I finished putting together a birthday gift for a work colleagues special birthday, Cath Kidson mug filled with goodies.

Happy Wednesdays

On Wednesdays, I get home from work a little earlier than usual, today I didn't need to make dinner as Francesca was cooking at school, making quiche, so I did some crafting instead.

Firstly I finished a skirt I started in the holiday ready for summer.

First Socks....
Spring Flowers...

Another warmer sunny day, so great to be out and about after the cold snap we've been having, I met up with a friend this afternoon and went a walk acroos the fields near our home, and ended up in our local tearoom for a pot of tea and a cake, the peaceful atmosphere was soon shattered by my youngest needing a lift somewhere.
My first pair of socks finished, in Opal sock yarn onsale at a local shop, as they only had two balls left, great I bought both balls and started knitting with a Patons sock pattern. I am pleased with the results but need to work on the toe and grafting together. I have since started my second pair, will show pictires soon.

My Grandmother's Birthday

Today I decided to start my blog, I have been thinking about it for sometime now, and inspired by all those blogs I read I picked today to settle down and start to write.
Today 18th February was my maternal Grandmother's birthday. She would have been around 111 years if she was alive. She was a hairdresser by trade and cut my hair when I was a child, which I hated as the style was always outdated.
It is the half term holidays here in our corner of the world and the girls and I are enjoting time at home crafting cooking and generally being lazy whilst my husband is away at work, he comes home on Friday and my youngest intends to cook him a meal, she is into cooking at present and has made quite alot already this half term.
